Don Wightman

Don is the President of PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. and joined the BCCA Board in September 2018.
Don’s passion for the construction industry began early, spending much of his boyhood on construction sites alongside his father, a boilermaker, working on major projects across Canada, including the W.A.C. Bennett Dam in Fort St. John in 1968. This early exposure ignited a lifelong interest in mechanics, driving Don to pursue professional credentials and ultimately carve out a distinguished career in the mechanical industry. Alongside his achievements, Don is an avid aviator, earning a commercial pilot’s license and doing all the flying for PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. to out-of-town projects.
PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. was founded by Don in 1995 and has since grown into a leading mechanical company in Western Canada. It provides complete services that meet specialized demands, including hospitals and healthcare, commercial, multi-tenant residential, and institutional facilities.
Committed to giving back to the industry that has shaped his life, Don volunteers his time and expertise to various industry organizations, including serving on the board of the British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) and the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA). He has been an active member of the VRCA Board of Directors since 2014, taking on roles such as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and Chair.
Don has an impressive list of career achievements, including successfully completing the Red Seal certification in both Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic and Interprovincial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Don has worked in the forest Industry of British Columbia and holds the Provincial Coastal Scaling Licence. Don’s aviation career also started early in life, first flying at the age of 18. After earning his Commercial Pilot Licence he flew as a float Instructor and as a pilot for a sky diving company.
