Apprenticeship plays an essential role in the construction sector’s economic health and growth. Our industry depends on workplace experience, with as much as 85% of training happening directly on the job.
With an estimated 26,800 job openings coming to the skilled trades by 2030 and two out of three workers already over the age of 45, there is a great deal of career opportunity in the construction sector. As one BCCA member puts it: “Apprentices are the future of our industry. They start on the tools, but they become our company presidents. The career potential is phenomenal, if only more of our young people could see it!”
