The Business Case for Apprenticeship Training in the Skilled Trades: Calculating the Return On Training Investment (ROTI)

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) and R.A. Malatest and Associates (Malatest), with funding provided through the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, have undertaken a project to estimate the return on investment in apprenticeship training for 21 trades across the province of B.C.

This survey will help us better understand the costs and benefits of training apprentices, or if you do not employ apprentices, this survey will help us understand the reasons why employers do not engage in apprenticeship training. Findings from this study will help industry in a variety of skilled trades sectors to build the business case for training and will help to improve policy decision-making and inform future training strategies.

If you complete the survey, it will take no more than 20 minutes of your time and you will be eligible to enter a draw to win a $500 gift card. Respondents who currently employ apprentices and are eligible to complete the longer version of the survey, will also be eligible to enter a second draw for a chance to win a $300 gift card.

You can complete the survey in two ways:

  • Take the survey online at http://bcrotigateway.malatest.net/ OR
  • Over the phone by calling the survey hotline at 250-412-1931 or 1-855-412-1931 (toll-free). You may also receive a phone call requesting your participation.

Thank you for your participation and contribution to this important research.
