BC Construction Association Announces New Board Chair

Anthony Minniti of CGI Constructors Steps up to Lead

VICTORIA, BC October 14, 2022 – The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) has announced the election of Anthony Minniti to the role of Board Chair for the 2022-2023 term, effective immediately.

Based in Victoria BC, Anthony is the VP of Operations for CGI Constructor’s Canadian Operations, where he leads a team of 100+ non-union and union staff across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. Anthony began his career as an architect and has a rich appreciation for the varied needs of communities both in terms of their reliance on the built environment and their social connectedness with each other.

Anthony served on the Board of Directors at the Vancouver Island Regional Construction Association (VICA) for 10 years, where he held the role of Chair, and has been an integral member of the BCCA Board since 2014.  He has served on the boards of BC Construction Foundation, Saanich Foundation, St. Margaret’s School, and many years as the President of Cordova Bay Community Association. Anthony is well-versed in the critical role that industry organizations play and is well-positioned to lead BCCA as it enters the post-COVID era.

As BCCA Board Chair Anthony will continue the work of out-going Chair Mike Fawcett of Brock White, advocating on behalf of BC’s industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction employers on important topics such as prompt payment, skilled worker shortages, and public sector procurement policies and procedures.

Under Anthony’s progressive leadership, BCCA will continue to implement the current three-year strategic plan which will take the organization to 2024. A focus of this plan is “Reinforcing Our Communities”, and the role of the BCCA Board Chair prioritizes collaboration with the four Regional Construction Associations to ensure strong benefit to membership while serving the industry at large.

“Construction is a strong and resilient industry, and there is no limit to what we can do when we work together” notes Minniti. “Construction is a driving force in the economy of our province and it is also a noble profession of our communities. No organization understands that better than BCCA, and we are proud to serve all ICI contractors, regardless of labour affiliation, size, or location in the province.”

“We welcome Anthony to the Chair’s role and look forward to his contributions as an experienced, long-time Board Member,” says Chris Atchison, President of the BCCA. “Anthony is fearless when it comes to asking tough questions and challenging the status quo. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.”
