During the early hours of the morning of March 4, 2025, Donald Trump formally imposed 25% tariffs on Canadian goods exported to the US, and 10% tariffs on energy products. This reckless rejection of a historically productive and mutually beneficial trade relationship will have a profound impact on British Columbia’s economy, as well as the economies of Canada and the United States.
These actions will significantly affect the construction industry. We understand the concern and anxiety driven by this news. We feel it too. BCCA remains committed to working with our members, partners, allied organizations, and the provincial government to stand up for Canada’s construction industry and stand up for Canadians.
What we’ve done, and what we’re doing to support contractors in BC:
- Members only webinar in early February on preparing for U.S. Tariffs
- Launched a resource page on the bccassn.com website
- Developed a checklist for Navigating Tariff Uncertainty
- Added a ‘We Sell Canadian Products’ filter to BCCA’s BidCentral Directory
As the situation evolves, we will share updates, news, and resources to keep you informed and up to date. We continue to be in constant contact with the Canadian Construction Association – Association canadienne de la construction.
