Restoring Confidence in BC’s Public Procurement Methodology for Construction Services
Victoria, B.C. (April 22, 2021) –The findings of a new industry-wide survey released by the BC Construction Association (BCCA) for Construction Month 2021 reveal the career opportunity in a sector officially designated as essential to the provincial economy during pandemic.
We understand and fully support the need to budget meaningful financial supports for sectors hard-hit by COVID-19, such as tourism and hospitality. It is essential that our government protect businesses in these industries which are, like construction, crucial to our economy and to so many hard-working British Columbians in communities across the province.
BCCA launches a new podcast series called Inside Construction. Episode 1: Prompt Payment or Bust covers the chronic problem of late payments in construction and how this issue puts contractors across the industry at risk, regardless of their business size, location, role, or labour affiliation.
The BCCA is proud to once again receive the Canadian Construction Association’s Workforce Award of Excellence.
This year, B.C.’s construction industry celebrates its fourth annual Construction and Skilled Trades Month with a surprising multi-sector collaboration.
Vancouver – March 3, 2021 – The BCCA Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) is honoured to announce the appointment of Christy Kerr to the position of Chair of its Board of Trustees. Christy has been serving as a Board Trustee for the EBT since 2013.
The construction industry is used to dueling. In fact, we thrive on it. We go where others don’t, every day, facing down myriad risks inherent in the work we do. Whether its extreme weather, physical hazards on a job site, opaque procurement documents in the office, late payments, labour or supply shortages, equipment malfunctions, biased political moves, new taxes, tariffs, or demonstrators, we face challenge every day. And we prevail. And we build.
