BCCA Looks Forward to Building BC’s Next Chapter Together
The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) congratulates Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson and the Conservative Party of British Columbia on their election victory and mandate to form a majority government.
We also acknowledge and thank outgoing Premier David Eby and his government for the important progress made on the Construction Prompt Payment Act.
As British Columbia enters this next chapter, the construction industry has an important role to play in strengthening our economy, supporting communities, and delivering the infrastructure our province needs.
Our industry’s priorities remain clear: greater certainty and transparency in infrastructure planning and public procurement, predictable long-term investment, and fair, balanced conditions that allow construction businesses to plan, invest and deliver with confidence. These are practical priorities that support economic growth, workforce development, and better outcomes for British Columbians.
An immediate opportunity is to finalize the regulatory framework and bring the Construction Prompt Payment Act fully into force. The legislation has already received Royal Assent, and completing this work will be an important step toward greater payment certainty, healthier cash flow and stronger business confidence throughout BC’s construction industry.
“Building confidence in our economy starts with creating the conditions for businesses and people to succeed,” said Chris Atchison, President of BCCA. “Our industry is ready to come to the table with experience, practical solutions and a genuine commitment to collaboration. We recognize the expectations placed on the incoming government and see significant opportunities to work together to strengthen our industry, support communities and deliver meaningful results for British Columbians.”
BCCA looks forward to working with Premier-elect Doerkson, the incoming BC Conservative government and all elected representatives to advance shared priorities, strengthen our skilled workforce, and support the successful delivery of projects across British Columbia.
Building British Columbia’s next chapter is a shared responsibility. Our industry is ready to do its part.
