BCCA Social Media Policy

The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) has multiple social media accounts that provide the public with a way to interact with us at the corporate level as well as through our specific programs and services. Information shared through these channels supports our vision and mission.

Social Media Accounts
All BCCA social media accounts are the responsibility of the BCCA Marketing team:

Content
We primarily use social media to share:

  • News releases and other documents
  • Relevant information produced and disseminated by external individuals or organizations, including media
  • Photos, videos, facts, comments or quotes related to programs and BCCA advocacy activities

Our Presence on social media
The BCCA Marketing team manages the social media accounts. We update and monitor these accounts during regular working hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST.

Links to Other Websites & External Sources
As Industry Advocacy is one of the BCCA’s primary functions, we frequently share external news, links, and other information that is relevant to the work of the organization. The Vision and Mission statements guide these choices.

The BCCA takes no responsibility for the accuracy, currency, or reliability of external information. A link is not an endorsement of an external site or its content.

Likes & Follows
BCCA chooses to like, follow, and subscribe to external accounts. These actions are not an endorsement.

When BCCA social media pages are engaged with through any action, such as a “Like” or “Follow”, this action authorizes the BCCA social media account to publish updates which will appear on your account’s news feed.

Comments & Other Interactions
BCCA strongly encourages comments and participation in the conversations on our social media accounts. We read all comments and messages. We consider all suggestions and ideas and pass them on to relevant members of our staff. However, we cannot reply to every message and comment we receive on our social media accounts

BCCA is not responsible for comments left by users. These comments represent the opinions of those who post them, not those of the BCCA.

BCCA reserves the right to edit or withdraw comments at our discretion if they do not comply with the comment etiquette (see below).

If BCCA believes a comment or question calls for a public reply we may post a response to all users.  We may also disseminate the content through other channels, such as our website or other social media.
